After ordering a virtual server, you are given access via the SSH protocol. We described SSH clients here: Convenient SSH clients for Windows with file transfer.

To avoid installing the FTP or FTPS (FTP+SSL) file transfer service on the server, you can use file transfer using SFTP - file transfer using the SSH protocol, and you will not need to install any services.

1. Installing SFTP client NetSarang XFTP

For the Microsoft Windows operating system there is a free version for home use from the NetSarang company - Xftp.

When installed together with the Xshell SSH client, switching from the SSH client to XFTP (file manager) is carried out without additional authorization, since the session from the SSH client is used.

#2. Switch from SSH to SFTP

Use the xftp button on the toolbar in the xshell client as shown in the screenshot below.

We specifically do not provide links, as they may become outdated over time, use a search engine and the name from heading No. 1.

We really like this client for its stability and functionality.

Also a popular alternative is the FileZilla client and visually it has the same capabilities as Xftp.
