Help and description of the process of ordering services → VPS or VDS, which one to choose?

[VPS/VDS servers]

The client often wonders what type of virtualization to order a server, and we decided to give examples of use, indicating clear advantages depending on the needs.

Website hosting – here it is almost definitely better to choose VPS (virtualization at the operating system level).

  • Since the Linux operating system has proven itself well as an OS for running your website, you will not need any other.

  • On the plus side, increasing the performance of a VPS server can be done “on the fly” without rebooting the server itself; the entire configuration is applied to the working machine and takes effect within 1-2 minutes.

  • Backup is much faster due to the smaller size of the operating system itself, and it is also possible to view all backup files and restore only the necessary files by selecting them in the file manager while viewing the contents.

CRM and other web systems – just like with a website, the choice falls on a VPS server.

  • CRM systems, various billing systems and others usually work in popular programming languages such as Java, C, Python, Perl or PHP, which works great on VPS servers.

  • By analogy with the site, all the above-described advantages are available.

Obviously, a solution with a VPS server allows for more flexible and faster administration, while still maintaining high performance.

Windows server for accounting - here the choice immediately falls on VDS (virtualization at the hardware level).

  • VDS server allows you to install the Windows operating system including your own distribution from disk (ISO image).

  • Your server will also have a control panel for administration, backups, etc.

  • Through the control panel you can control it like a regular computer, turn it on, off and reboot, and also view everything on the screen as if you were behind a real server with a monitor. Except that all these buttons and the screen are accessible through the control panel in your browser.

  • On the plus side, there is no need to install any applications, all actions take place through your favorite browser, be it Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox, the choice is yours.

Telephony server – here, as experience shows, you also need to select a VDS server and here’s why:

  • Software for voice transmission and processing requires direct access from the operating system to its kernel and some functions of the physical server itself, therefore, in order for voice transmission including queues and IVR to work correctly, you must select a VDS server; most often it works on Linux distributions, less often on Windows.

  • All servers include a statistics calculation system. You can view the volume of incoming and outgoing traffic in your personal account. By the way, our traffic is unlimited and there are no ratios between incoming and outgoing.

In the last two situations, the choice is only for VDS, since it is impossible to run the Windows operating system on a VPS, and also gain full control over the kernel of the Linux operating system.
