After ordering a virtual server with the selected Microsoft Windows operating system, remote access to the server must be done via the RDP protocol. There are several clients available from different developers to accomplish this.
In this guide, we will look at connecting to a virtual server running the Microsoft Windows operating system. We will use the official Microsoft Remote Desktop application.
The Microsoft Remote Desktop application is cross-platform and available for most operating systems. To install the application, open the app store for your operating system.
- For MAC - AppStore
- For Android - Google Play
- For Windows - Microsoft Store
Search for Microsoft Remote Desktop in the app store and proceed with the installation.
1. Launch the Application
Add your virtual server using the menu: Add - Computers.
2. Add User Account
In the email you received or in your personal account, you have access to a user account with a login and password for connecting to the virtual server—enter these in the field below after the IP address to avoid entering them every time.
3. Enter the Virtual Server IP Address
Enter the IP address assigned to your virtual server. In the field below, also select the added user account. Click Save.
4. Initiate Connection to the Virtual Server
Double-click the added server from the list of available servers, and the connection to the remote desktop of your virtual server will be established.
By default, the RDP protocol uses TCP port 3389. This port must be open on your workstation.
Please note the minimum system requirements for proper operation.
