The remote access server is a Linux Debian 12 with a configured PPTP service with which you can connect any devices that support this protocol - thereby gaining access to them, since the VDS server has an external Internet IP, and devices connected to it can be accessed through port forwarding from external IP to local.
The manuals describe all the necessary steps for setting up the server and client part:
- Consolidation of local networks (access to local devices via VDS server)
- Setting up a PPTP client to gain remote access to a Debian 12 workstation
- Setting up a PPTP client to gain remote access to a Windows 10 workstation
There are a large number of examples when this method of gaining access to a device is convenient, and in some cases the only possible one.
For example, if you need to access a workstation located in the office or at home, where the connection is made through a 4G gateway of a mobile operator, it is often not possible to obtain a dedicated IP address, but with the help of this server, having configured the connection in advance, it is possible.
If there are several devices, you simply add additional users to the server. Correctly configuring the client part will provide only the ability to remotely connect through your access server, and not transit all traffic, which is described in our guides for setting up the client part.
To get an already configured VDS remote access PPTP server, you need to order a VDS server for a period of 1 year and contact technical support using your personal account.
