We present the second device developed in our laboratory — Postman — a notification device based on the subject and sender of an email, operating via the IMAP protocol.
From the initial idea to the creation of a notification device for email subjects and senders, exactly 4 months have passed. During this period, we took into account several aspects, such as night mode, and added the necessary functionality to make its use fit real everyday needs.

The email notification device, developed by the hosting company SYNAY, was originally created to notify the owner or staff of an online store about new orders and other important messages.

The final version supports several types of notifications:
- Bright LED light
- Loud sound alert
The main task of the device is to instantly notify about the arrival of important emails for further processing. In the settings, you can set the mail check interval, the number of confirmations, and enable night notification mode with minimal sound.

How notifications work
When a new email arrives in the mailbox, if it is unread and matches the specified criteria, the sound and light notification is triggered.
Settings and control
The main parameters (check interval, access point settings, night mode) are configured via the web interface and are usually set once.

On the back panel there is a single button:

White button — settings and event viewing.
- Holding for 30 seconds switches the device to access point mode.
- With the sound level set to 0, pressing the button will display the current IP address of the device.
- With the sound level set to 30, pressing the button will show the continuous uptime since it was turned on.
- With the sound level set to 19, pressing the button will display the email check log for each filter.
- With the sound level set to 20, pressing the button will display the total number of notifications with breakdown (Total, day, week, month).
Regardless of your online store’s CMS, you will always stay informed about the status of orders and feedback, since the device works via the IMAP protocol, allowing it to be used with any mailbox. The device is especially useful for online business owners, and its stylish design makes it suitable for placing in a visible spot.
Project codename: “Postman”. In our laboratory, we continue to develop unusual but practical devices for digital business.
