A virtual server is needed to perform tasks when the capabilities of virtual hosting are not enough, and the placement of physical equipment is a complex and expensive process, which also does not allow backup and recovery, which complicates the process of choosing software. Thus, the optimal solution is a virtual server; in our case, we offer 2 types of virtualization:
- At the software level (Containers)
- At the physical hardware level (Hypervisor)
Each of them has its own advantages, but in this article we would like to think creatively and give a list of tasks that these servers cope with every day and have proven themselves well:
- Online store
- Corporate mail (including mailings)
- Private cloud (File sharing, calendar, collaboration)
- Chatbot
- Mobile app
- Online radio station
- File server (storing recordings from video cameras)
- Access server (proxy, VPN)
- Monitoring server
- Demo stand (for developers)
We tried to list the most popular use cases and, of course, did not take into account everything, but it would be interesting to supplement this list; share in the comments for what purposes you use or plan to use a virtual server.
